TPO – Thermoplastic Polyolefin
TPO (thermoplastic polyolefin) roofing is a single-ply roofing system made of synthetic materials and reinforcing scrim that covers flat roofs throughout San Francisco. It’s a blend of polypropylene and ethylene propylene rubber, polyester reinforcement, and glass fiber. TPO roofs are often white and highly reflective, which can save money on energy costs in the summer. TPO is also flexible in colder temperatures.
ARC replaced the existing asphalt roof (photo shown above) at the 160 Via Casitas HOA with a premium Firestone Ultra Ply Thermoplastic polyolefin polyester reinforced and heat welded Single-Ply Mechanically Attached Roof System in accordance with Firestone specifications and details. A TPO roofing system is far superior to any conventional hot tar system, and is also superior to other single ply systems like modified bitumen and even other premium heat welded single ply systems.
